Regular Season Round 7: Slask Wroclaw - Torun 84-80

No shocking result in a game when leader Slask (7-0) beat 8th ranked Twarde Pierniki (3-4) in Wroclaw 84-80 on Monday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Strangely Twarde Pierniki outrebounded Slask 39-23 including a 29-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Twarde Pierniki was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for Ukrainian Denis Ikovlev (200-86, college: Nevada, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) who helped to win the game recording 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Lawrence Kinnard (203-86, college: UAB) contributed with 13 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Slask players scored in double figures. American LaMarshall Corbett (188-88, college: Angelo St.) answered with 21 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import point guard Jamar Diggs (188-88, college: Wofford, agency: Beo Basket) added 8 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Twarde Pierniki. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Slask. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with PGE Turow. Newly promoted Twarde Pierniki keeps the eighth place with four games lost. Slask will face Rosa (#4) in Radom in the next round. Twarde Pierniki will play at home against AZS Koszalin (#3) and hope to win that game.
