ASA Jerusalem can celebrate their first win this season after four consecutive loses. They used home court advantage to defeat Elitzur Netanya (0-5) 77-61 on Monday. The game was mostly controlled by ASA Jerusalem. Elitzur Netanya managed to win third quarter 22-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. ASA Jerusalem forced 19 Elitzur Netanya turnovers and outrebounded them 48-28 including a 36-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. American Ashley Shields (180-85, college: SW Tenn.St.CC) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and naturalized American guard Rebeka Ros (168-89) chipped in 9 points, 7 rebounds, 10 assists and 10 steals. Four ASA Jerusalem players scored in double figures. American point guard Haiden Palmer (173, college: Gonzaga, agency: LBM Management) responded with 22 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import forward Chastity Reed (185-89, college: UALR) scored 16 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). ASA Jerusalem (1-4) left bottom position moving up to eighth place, which they share with Ramat Hasharon. It was Elitzur Netanya's fifth loss in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. ASA Jerusalem will meet league's second-placed Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Elitzur Netanya will play against the league's leader Maccabi Ashdod (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
