Regular Season Round 5: Elitzur Holon - Hap.Petah Tikva 70-80

There was a minor upset when 5th ranked Elitzur Holon (2-3) was defeated at home by seventh ranked Hap.Petah Tikva (2-3) 80-70. The game was mostly controlled by Hap.Petah Tikva. Elitzur Holon was better in third quarter 21-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hap.Petah Tikva dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Elitzur Holon's 34. They outrebounded Elitzur Holon 50-30 including a 22-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Hap.Petah Tikva players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Nigerian-American forward Atonye Nyingifa (180-90, college: UCLA, agency: Regeneracom Sports) nailed a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 15 rebounds for the winning side and American center Stephanie Madden (185-88, college: Langston) accounted for 20 points and 13 rebounds. American guard Courtney Clements (183-89, college: San Diego St.) came up with 21 points and 8 rebounds and naturalized American guard Thea Lemberger (170-92, college: UCLA, agency: LBM Management) added 10 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Elitzur Holon in the defeat. Five Elitzur Holon players scored in double figures. Hap.Petah Tikva moved-up to sixth place, which they share with defeated Elitzur Holon. Elitzur Holon lost their third game in a row. Hap.Petah Tikva's next round opponent will be higher ranked Elitzur Ramla (#4) at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
