Regular Season Round 5: Elitzur Ashkelon - Maccabi H/H 96-87
Date: November 18, 2014
Not a big story in a game when 11th ranked Hasharon (2-3) was defeated on the road by second ranked Ironi Ashkelon (4-1) 96-87 on Tuesday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 29-20. But Hasharon won second period 24-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Hasharon 42-29 including a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Ironi Ashkelon looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Hasharon was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Wendell McKines (198-88, college: N.Mexico St., agency: Three Eye Sports) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 15 rebounds for the winners and international Raviv Pitshon (201-89) chipped in 17 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Ironi Ashkelon players scored in double figures. American guard Jeremy Allen (193-88, college: FIU, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) responded with 35 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds (was perfect 13-for-13 from the free throw line !!!) and forward Itay Karabayov (198-85) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Ironi Ashkelon keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Maccabi K/G and Hapoel G/A. Loser Hasharon dropped to the ninth place with three games lost. Ironi Ashkelon will face Ironi Ramat Gan (#4) on the road in the next round. Hasharon will play against Maccabi Raanana (#13) and hope to win that game.
