Regular Season Round 5: Elitzur Ramla - Ironi Ramat Gan 85-79

There was an upset when 3rd placed Ironi Ramat Gan (3-2) was defeated on the road by twelfth ranked Elitzur Ramla (1-4) 85-79 on Tuesday. Ironi Ramat Gan was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 31-24 charge of Elitzur Ramla, which allowed them to win the game. American guard Ronald Davis (190-82, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee) stepped up and scored 27 points for the winners and his fellow American import forward Billy White (203-89, college: San Diego St.) chipped in 25 points and 8 rebounds. Elitzur Ramla's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Kwame Vaughn (190-90, college: CS Fullerton) responded with 29 points and 5 rebounds and the former international power forward Amit Tamir (208-79, college: California) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). Elitzur Ramla maintains twelfth place with 1-4 record, which they share with Maccabi Raanana. Loser Ironi Ramat Gan dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. Elitzur Ramla will face higher ranked Hapoel Migd.H. (#6) in Tarshicha in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ironi Ramat Gan will play at home against the league's second-placed Ironi Ashkelon and will have a slim chance for a victory.
