There was a small surprise when twelfth ranked Palmeiras (2-2) beat 10th ranked Brasilia (1-2) in Sao Paulo 86-70 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 12-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 86-70. Palmeiras looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Italian-Argentinian point guard Maximiliano Stanic (178-78, agency: Players Group) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 6 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals. The former international swingman Diego Pinheiro (195-80) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Four Palmeiras players scored in double figures. Palmeiras' coach Regis Marrelli allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games.
