Regular Season Round 9: Kalisz - Suchy Las 65-58

An interesting game for Kalisz (5-3) which hosted in Kalisz 4th placed Suchy Las (4-4). Third ranked Kalisz managed to get a 7-point victory 65-58. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 21-11. But Suchy Las won second period 22-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Suchy Las 39-26 including a 32-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Power forward Przemyslaw Galewski (199-91) nailed 14 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side and forward Kamil Sieranski (195-84) accounted for 10 points and 8 rebounds. Four Kalisz players scored in double figures. Forward Mateusz Brek (192-94) came up with 16 points and 4 steals and swingman Tomasz Smorawinski (196-87) added 13 points respectively for Suchy Las in the defeat. Suchy Las' coach Przemyslaw Szurek rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Kalisz maintains third place in Group D with 5-3 record having just three points less than leader Gornik. Loser Suchy Las keep the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with Miedzychod. Kalisz will meet Polonia Leszno (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Suchy Las will play against Slask 2 Wroclaw (#7) and hope to secure a win.
