Regular Season Round 8: Jilin NE T. - Shandong FB 118-109

There was a minor upset when higher ranked Shandong Bulls (4-4) lost to twelfth ranked Jilin Tigers (4-4) in Changchun 109-118 on Wednesday. Shandong Bulls trailed by 13 points at halftime and as many as 22 after three quarters before a 37-24 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 109-118 at the end of the game. Jilin Tigers dominated down low during the game scoring 78 of its points in the paint compared to Shandong Bulls' 46. They outrebounded Shandong Bulls 41-28 including 28 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Jilin Tigers especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. American power forward Denzel Bowles (208-89, college: JMU) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 11 rebounds. The other American import guard Dominique Jones (193-88, college: S.Florida) contributed with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 assists for the winners. International forward Yanyuhang Ding (200-93) replied with 24 points and 5 assists and American-Ukrainian point guard Eugene Jeter (180-83, college: Portland) added 23 points and 4 assists in the effort for Shandong Bulls. Five Jilin Tigers and four Shandong Bulls players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Jilin Tigers moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Shandong Bulls. Jilin Tigers will face higher ranked Qingdao Eagles (#8) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
