The biggest surprise of round 8 was guest Snaefell's (7-1) road victory over second-ranked Haukar (6-2) 80-77 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Haukar. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Haukar was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. The former international guard Hildur Sigurdardottir (178-81) chipped in 18 points and 9 rebounds. American swingman Lele Hardy (182-88, college: Clemson) produced a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!), 13 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals and Sylvia Run Halfdanardottir (-98) added 6 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Snaefell have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Keflavik. Haukar at the other side dropped to the third place with two games lost. Snaefell is looking forward to face bottom-ranked KR (#8) in Reykjavik in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Haukar will play on the road against the league's leader Keflavik (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
