There was no surprise in Ciudad de Mexico where 14th ranked Gansos (3-14) were defeated by ninth ranked Panteras (7-8) 93-85 on Thursday. The guests trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 32-16 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Puerto Rican forward Carlos Lopez-Sosa (208-90, college: UNLV, agency: Paris Global Sports) stepped up and scored 22 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and the former international swingman Jorge Alfredo Casillas (196-90) chipped in 22 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Panteras players scored in double figures. Panteras' coach Jorge Otero used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Harrison Smith (190-87, college: Texas Southern) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import swingman Brandon Davis (198-88, college: Lamar, agency: Elite Talent Exchange) scored 21 points and 7 steals. Panteras have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain ninth place with 7-8 record. Loser Gansos stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. Panteras will meet league's leader Soles in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gansos will play against Barreteros (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
