Regular Season Round 6: BGU Minsk - GOCOR-Sozh 72-81

The game in Minsk was also quite interesting. Top-ranked GOCOR-Sozh (6-0) played at the court of 6th ranked BGU Minsk (2-3). GOCOR-Sozh managed to secure a 9-point victory 81-72 on Friday. BGU Minsk trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 19-17 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 72-81 at the end of the game. The best player for the winners was Ukrainian forward Ivan Kaliayev (201-87) who had a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds. The former international point guard Siarhei Charykau (185-82, college: Yakima Valley CC) chipped in 7 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Andrei Tsyvinski (197-91) who recorded 25 points and 5 rebounds and forward Artem Kozlov (194-90) added 16 points and 6 rebounds respectively. BGU Minsk's coach Dmitri Novitzky rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. GOCOR-Sozh have an impressive six-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Grodno-93. BGU Minsk lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the sixth place with three games lost. GOCOR-Sozh will face Rubon II (#8) in Vitebsk in the next round and are hoping to win another game. BGU Minsk's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Minsk Impuls BGUIR.
