Regular Season Round 9: Jilin NE T. - Qingdao E. 119-111

There was a small surprise in Changchun where eleventh ranked Jilin Tigers (5-4) defeated 9th ranked Qingdao Eagles (4-4) 119-111. It looked good early as Qingdao Eagles took an 9-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Jilin Tigers had a 40-24 second period charge getting the lead and Qingdao Eagles were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 111-119. Jilin Tigers players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. American power forward Denzel Bowles (208-89, college: JMU) nailed a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds for the winning side and his fellow American import guard Dominique Jones (193-88, college: S.Florida) accounted for 31 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists. American point guard Justin Dentmon (183-85, college: Washington, agency: Comsport) came up with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and Iranian center Hamed Haddadi (218-85) added 24 points, 18 rebounds and 4 blocks respectively for Qingdao Eagles in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Qingdao Eagles' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Jilin Tigers moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Shandong FB and Shanxi Zh. Qingdao Eagles lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the tenth position with four games lost. Jilin Tigers will play against Fujian (#16) in Jinjiang in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Qingdao Eagles will play on the road against Shandong Bulls (#9) in Jinan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
