Regular Season Round 9: Xinjiang FT - DongGuan L. 96-102

There was a small surprise in Urumqi where seventh ranked DongGuan Leopards (6-3) defeated 5th ranked Xinjiang Flying Tige (6-3) 102-96. The guests were already 15 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 29-20 Xinjiang Flying Tige's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 102-96 at the end of the game. DongGuan Leopards made 21-of-25 charity shots (84.0 percent) during the game. DongGuan Leopards outrebounded Xinjiang Flying Tige 43-28 including 17 on the offensive glass. Xinjiang Flying Tige was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. American point guard Bobby Brown (188-84, college: CS Fullerton) nailed 40 points (!!!) and 6 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) for the winning side and international forward QuAn Gu (202-92) accounted for 17 points and 6 rebounds. American-Filipino power forward Andray Blatche (211-86) came up with a double-double by scoring 45 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 6 assists and international center Qi Zhou (217-96) added 10 points, 8 rebounds and 5 blocks respectively for Xinjiang Flying Tige in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. DongGuan Leopards moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Xinjiang FT. DongGuan Leopards will play against league's leader Liaoning Hunters in Yingkou in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Xinjiang Flying Tige will play at home against Guandong Tigers (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
