Regular Season Round 9: GTK Gliwice - Stal Ostrow 87-82 OT

There was a change at the 1Liga leadership position after last games. Round 9 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Stal Ostrow (8-1). They were defeated by sixth ranked GTK Gliwice (4-5) 87-82 in overtime on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Stal Ostrow. GTK Gliwice dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Stal Ostrow's 36. 25 personal fouls committed by Stal Ostrow helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Artur Donigiewicz (190-84) stepped up and scored 12 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and Pawel Szymanski (192-92) chipped in 18 points. Four GTK Gliwice players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was point guard Tomasz Ochonko (183-86) with 28 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and swingman Adrian Mroczek-Truskowski (192-85) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Newly promoted GTK Gliwice maintains sixth place with 4-5 record, which they share with 3 other teams. Stal Ostrow at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Krosno who have the same record. Stal Ostrow will play next round against Astoria Bydg. trying to make it back to the top of the standings. GTK Gliwice will try to continue on its current victory against tenth ranked Pogon Prudnik on the road.
