Regular Season Round 18: Gansos - Barreteros 101-93

Date: November 22, 2014
Bottom-ranked Gansos managed to get a fourth victory. This time they won against thirteenth-ranked Barreteros in Ciudad de Mexico 101-93. The hosts were already 11 points ahead at halftime and as many as 19 after three quarters before a 31-20 last quarter charge of Barreteros cut the lead to 101-93 at the end of the game. American players dominated the game. Swingman Brandon Davis (198-88, college: Lamar, agency: Elite Talent Exchange) scored 29 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and guard Harrison Smith (190-87, college: Texas Southern) chipped in 27 points and 4 steals during the contest. Gansos' coach Luis Andres Garcia allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was power forward Marcus Fizer (203-78, college: Iowa St., agency: Worldwide Career Management) with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds and center Jerome Habel (208-85, college: San Diego St.) scored 25 points and 8 rebounds. Four Barreteros players scored in double figures. Gansos maintains fourteenth position with 4-14 record. Newly promoted Barreteros keep the thirteenth place with 12 games lost. Gansos will play against league's second-placed Halcones Rojos in Veracruz in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Barreteros will play at home against Abejas (#8) and hope to get back on the winning track.
