Regular Season Round 10: Mickiewicz - Gimbasket Wroclaw 77-33

Not a big story in a game in Katowice where bottom-ranked Gimbasket Wroclaw (0-8) was rolled over by fifth ranked Mickiewicz (6-3) 77-33 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Mickiewicz. Gimbasket Wroclaw was better in fourth quarter 13-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Gimbasket Wroclaw to just 4 points in third quarter. Mickiewicz dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Gimbasket Wroclaw's 20. Mickiewicz forced 28 Gimbasket Wroclaw turnovers. Forward Tomasz Gembus (197-87) had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and forward Michal Batorski (200-88) chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four Mickiewicz players scored in double figures. At the losing side swingman Bartosz Zajac (195-91) responded with 8 points and 6 rebounds and guard Artur Borkowski (181-96) scored 5 points and 5 rebounds. Gimbasket Wroclaw's coach Robert Kosciuk already knew that his team would not have a big chance, so allowed to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Mickiewicz moved-up to third place in Group C, which they share with Alba Chorzow and WKK Wroclaw. Loser Gimbasket Wroclaw still closes the standings with eight games lost. Mickiewicz will face league's second-placed MCKiS Jaworz. in Jaworzno in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Gimbasket Wroclaw will play on the road against Polonia Bytom (#6) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
