Regular Season Round 8: Anwil - Stelmet ZG 74-77

Everything went according to plan in Wloclawek where seventh ranked Stelmet (5-3) edged bottom-ranked Anwil (1-7) 77-74 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they rallied back getting tie in the second period and winning the second half and won the game by 3 points. Anwil was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Georgian swingman Quinton Hosley (201-84, college: Fresno St.) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 5 rebounds and international Aaron Cel (203-87) who added 12 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Stelmet's coach Saso Filipovski used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Deonta Vaughn (185-86, college: Cincinnati) responded with 20 points and 6 assists and naturalized Canadian forward Greg Surmacz (203-86, agency: Promotex) scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Stelmet moved-up to fifth place. Anwil lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with seven games lost. Stelmet will face Energa Czarni (#7) in Slupsk in the next round. Anwil will play on the road against Wikana Start (#12) in Lublin and hope to win that game.
