Seventh-ranked Oita Heat Devils (5-8) were very close to win a game against fourth ranked Sendai 89ers (10-5) on Saturday. Sendai 89ers managed to secure only three-point victory 85-82. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Oita Heat Devils. Oita Heat Devils trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 24-16 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 82-85 at the end of the game. Strangely Oita Heat Devils outrebounded Sendai 89ers 41-27 including a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for American guard Kejuan Johnson (193-85, college: Long Beach St., agency: KMG Sports Management) who led his team to a victory with 30 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import forward Adrian Moss (204-81, college: Florida) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 17 rebounds for the winners. American center Todd O'Brien (213-89, college: UAB) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 16 rebounds and guard Naoto Takushi (182-81) added 20 points and 7 assists in the effort for Oita Heat Devils. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Sendai 89ers have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 10-5 record, which they share with Osaka Evessa. Oita Heat Devils at the other side keep the seventh position with eight games lost. Sendai 89ers is again looking forward to face Oita Heat Devils (#7) at home in the next round. Oita Heat Devils will have a break next round.
