Regular Season Round 8: COB Calais - Lyon 74-80

Bottom-ranked COB Calais (0-8) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 80-74 loss to eleventh ranked Lyon (3-5) in Calais on Saturday evening. COB Calais was trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 20-13 charge of Lyon, which allowed them to win the game. They made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Bintou Dieme (164-84) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and the former international center Christelle Diallo (192-93) who added 19 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. American forward Arhonda Covington (185-85, college: Louisville) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and forward Jenny Fouasseau (179-92) scored 17 points and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Lyon moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Nantes. Newly promoted COB Calais still closes the standings with eight games lost. Lyon will meet at home higher ranked Tarbes (#5) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. COB Calais will play against Toulouse (#12) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
