Regular Season Round 9: Catz - Pyrinto 87-46

SM-sarja top team - Catz Lappeenranta (9-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eighth ranked Pyrinto (2-7) 87-46. The game without a history. Catz Lappeenranta led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Pyrinto to just 7 points in third quarter. Catz Lappeenranta dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Pyrinto's 32. Catz Lappeenranta forced 27 Pyrinto turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Pyrinto's players. American swingman Alexandria Anderson (186-86, college: Chattanooga, agency: Regeneracom Sports) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals for the winners and her fellow American import Chandrea Jones (175-87, college: Syracuse, agency: LBM Management) chipped in 26 points and 7 steals (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Four Catz Lappeenranta players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Jessica Schroll (180-91, college: Cent.Michigan) with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds and Hendderson Brittany scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. Pyrinto's coach Ilpo Rantanen gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for Catz Lappeenranta. Defending champion maintains first place with 9-0 record. Pyrinto lost their fifth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the eighth position with seven games lost. They share it with TuRi. Catz Lappeenranta will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Pyrinto will play on the road against Forssan Alku (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
