Regular Season Round 9: PeKa - ViVe 113-59

The game between second ranked Peli-Karhut (7-2) and 7th ranked ViVe (3-6) in Kotka on Saturday ended with biggest points difference. Peli-Karhut outscored guests from Vimpeli 113-59. The game without a history. Peli-Karhut led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to ViVe's 40. They outrebounded ViVe 51-37 including a 35-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Peli-Karhut looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by ViVe's players. American players dominated the game. Forward Natasha Thames (183-91, college: Temple) nailed a double-double by scoring 27 points and 16 rebounds for the winning side and swingman Jasmine Gill (185-90, college: JMU) accounted for 17 points and 13 rebounds. Four Peli-Karhut players scored in double figures. Forward Kenya McBee (188-83, college: N.Carolina) came up with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and forward Breanna Salley (180-87, college: Seattle) added 15 points respectively for ViVe in the defeat. ViVe's coach Jukka-Pekka Kujala already knew that her team would not have a big chance, so allowed to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Peli-Karhut maintains second place with 7-2 record having just two points less than leader Catz, which they share with ToPo. Newly promoted ViVe keeps the seventh position with six games lost. Peli-Karhut will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. ViVe will play against Torpan Pojat (#3) in Helsinki and hope to secure a win.
