Bottom-ranked Amazone (0-7) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 91-65 loss to fifth ranked Binnenland (4-4) in Utrecht on Saturday evening. They made 22-of-23 free shots (95.7 percent) during the game. Binnenland forced 26 Amazone turnovers and outrebounded them 46-29 including 17 on the offensive glass. 24 personal fouls committed by Amazone helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American Tae'Lor Purdy (-91, college: Regis Univ., agency: Gamble Sports Management) who had a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). The former international guard Zera Butter (179-92) chipped in 30 points and 5 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). At the other side the best for losing team was forward Rosa Hof (182-93) who recorded 27 points and guard Jay-eliza Burgos (173-94) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion moved-up to third place. Newly promoted Amazone still closes the standings with seven games lost. Binnenland will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Amazone will play on the road against Grasshoppers (#6) in Katwijk and hopes to get finally their first victory.
