Regular Season Round 6: Mitsubishi K. - Denso Iris 61-67

WJBL top team - Denso Iris (6-0) added another victory to their record on Saturday. This time they beat seventh ranked Mitsubishi K. (2-3) in Nagoya 67-61. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 67-61. Denso Iris dominated on the defensive end, holding Mitsubishi K. to just 7 points in second quarter. It was a good game for the former international power forward Maki Takada (183-89) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 18 rebounds. Guard Yasuko Itou (160-90) contributed with 15 points for the winners. International swingman Aya Watanabe (170-92) replied with 17 points and 8 rebounds and international swingman Michiko Miyamoto (175-86) added 19 points in the effort for Mitsubishi K.Denso Iris have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 6-0 record. Mitsubishi K. lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with three games lost. Denso Iris will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Mitsubishi K. will play at home against Toyota B SR (#4) and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
