Regular Season Round 8: Athinaikos - PAOK 75-76

Important game to mention about took place in Athens. Fourth ranked PAOK (6-3) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 8th ranked Athinaikos (2-7) 76-75 on Sunday evening. It looked good early as Athinaikos took an 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then PAOK had a 25-18 second period charge getting the lead and Athinaikos was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 75-76. Athinaikos was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Breanna Brock (187-90, college: Missouri, agency: Gamble Sports Management) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 29 points and 11 rebounds and Aspasia Kalampakou (178-93) who added 21 points and 5 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) during the contest. Forward Theodora Panteli (183-87, college: Binghamton) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 17 rebounds and international guard Eleanna Christinaki (181-96, college: Dayton) scored 16 points. Five Athinaikos players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. PAOK maintains fourth position with 6-3 record. Athinaikos lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with seven games lost. PAOK will play against Ippokratis (#5) in the next round. Athinaikos will play against AE Ellinikou and hopes to get back on the winning track.
