Date: November 23, 2014
A1 top team - Proteas (8-1) added another victory to their record on Sunday. This time they beat ninth ranked Olympiakos (1-8) in Athens 73-67. Olympiakos trailed by 22 points after 3 quarters before a 27-11 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 67-73 at the end of the game. Proteas looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by American center Cierra Bravard (193-89, college: Florida St., agency: Josep and Nicolas) who scored that evening 16 points and 8 rebounds and the former international forward Katerina Sotiriou (186-84, agency: Josep and Nicolas) supported her with 19 points. Even 20 points and 9 rebounds by the former international forward Niki Zerva (184-79) did not help to save the game for Olympiakos. FYR Macedonian guard Ana Tanturovska (174-90) added 17 points and 6 rebounds for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Proteas have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 8-1 record, which they share with Panathinaikos. Olympiakos lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Panathlitikos. Proteas will meet at home Anagenisi (#6) in the next round where they are favorite. Olympiakos will play against Panathlitikos and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
