Regular Season Round 8: DCU Saints - Belfast Star 63-70

Bottom-ranked Belfast Star managed to get the second consecutive victory on Sunday night. This time they won against fifth-ranked DCU Saints in Dublin 70-63. And what about a second win in a row after ...six consecutive loses. Strangely DCU Saints outrebounded Belfast Star 55-42 including 18 on the offensive glass. The winners were led by American guard Ricky Taylor (195-89, college: Chattanooga) who scored that evening 27 points and the other American import forward Michael McKillop (194-85, college: Davidson) supported him with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Belfast Star's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 14 points and 23 rebounds by international center Martins Provizors (202-87) did not help to save the game for DCU Saints. Lithuanian forward Arkadijs Makarenko (185) added 6 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists for the hosts. Belfast Star maintains tenth position with 2-6 record. DCU Saints at the other side keep the fifth place with four games lost. They share the position with Templeogue. Belfast Star will meet at home higher ranked Neptune Cork (#4) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. DCU Saints' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Dublin to the arena Swords Thunder.
