Regular Season Round 16: Akita NH - Okinawa GK 75-79

There was a minor upset when much higher ranked Akita Happinets (12-4) were defeated at home by second ranked Okinawa GK (12-2) 79-75 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Akita Happinets won fourth quarter 20-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Akita Happinets 43-32 including 19 on the offensive glass. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Draelon Burns (194-85, college: De Paul) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds and power forward Anthony Kent (208-83, college: Ball St.) who added 16 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) during the contest. At the losing side forward Ruben Boykin (201-85, college: N.Arizona) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and forward Deshawn Stephens (203-89, college: San Diego St.) scored 17 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Okinawa GK have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 12-2 record having five points less than leader Kyoto Hannar. which they share with defeated Akita Happinets. Loser Akita Happinets keep the second place with four games lost. Okinawa GK will face Osaka Evessa (#4) on the road in the next round. Akita Happinets will play against Gunma and hope to win that game.
