Everything went according to plan when third ranked Hamamatsu Phoenix (11-3) outscored on the road bottom-ranked Saitama Broncos (0-12) 88-59 on Sunday. The game without a history. Hamamatsu Phoenix led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Saitama Broncos' 24. Worth to mention a great performance of Nigerian-Canadian Olu Ashaolu (200-88, college: Oregon) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Nile Murry (193-83, college: TCU) who added 10 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Four Hamamatsu Phoenix players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Janya Masumoto (183-88) responded with 16 points and American forward Ari Stewart (201-90, college: USC) scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hamamatsu Phoenix maintains third position with 11-3 record having six points less than leader Kyoto Hannar. Saitama Broncos at the other side still closes the standings with 12 games lost. Hamamatsu Phoenix will face Tokyo Cinq R. (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Saitama Broncos will play against Fukushima and hope to get finally their first victory.
