Regular Season Round 16: Tokyo Cinq R. - Gunma 65-87
Date: November 23, 2014
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 10th ranked Tokyo Cinq R. (4-12) was rolled over at home by eleventh ranked Gunma (2-12) 87-65 on Sunday. The game without a history. Gunma led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They also forced 20 Tokyo Cinq R. turnovers. Gunma looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Daniel Northern (206-85, college: Tenn Tech, agency: R.H.Consultancy) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and forward Carlos Dixon (201-81, college: Virginia Tech) who added 17 points and 8 assists during the contest. At the losing side center Will Foster (226-88, college: Gonzaga) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 19 rebounds and 8 blocks (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and swingman Jemal Farmer (195-89, college: Arkansas, agency: Blacktop Management) scored 14 points and 4 assists. Five Gunma and four Tokyo Cinq R. players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Gunma maintains eleventh position with 2-12 record. Tokyo Cinq R. at the other side dropped to the eighth place with 12 games lost. Gunma will face league's second-placed Akita Happinets at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
