There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Alghero (0-6) was crushed at home by second ranked Torino (6-1) 92-63 on Sunday. The game without a history. Torino led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Alghero's 28 and made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was forward Costanza Coen (190-90) who scored 24 points and 5 rebounds. Naturalized American point guard Brianne O'Rourke (172-87, college: Penn St., agency: Two Points) chipped in 17 points. Four Torino players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Argentinian power forward Erica Sanchez (182-76) who recorded a double-double by scoring 26 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and point guard Sara Azzellini (170-86) added 15 points and 6 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Torino maintains second place in A2 with 6-1 record behind leader San Pietro. Loser Alghero still closes the standings with six games lost. Torino will face Milano (#5) on the road in the next round. Alghero will play against Genova and hopes to get finally their first victory.
