Regular Season Round 9: Viterbo - Irpino 57-93

There was no surprise when 6th ranked Viterbo (3-5) was crushed at home by third ranked Irpino (6-2) 93-57 on Sunday. The game without a history. Irpino led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They also forced 19 Viterbo turnovers and outrebounded them 39-26 including a 29-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Irpino shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. The best player for the winners was guard Elisa Mancinelli (175-93) who scored 20 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Lithuanian forward Gabriele Narviciute (190-90) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Four Irpino players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Bulgarian forward Roksana Yordanova (184-84) who recorded 21 points and guard Elisa Mancabelli (172-94) added 10 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Irpino maintains third place in A2 with 6-2 record behind leader San Pietro. Loser Viterbo keeps the sixth position with five games lost. Irpino will face league's second-placed Bologna on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Viterbo will play against Marinella (#4) in Santa Marinella and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
