There was no surprise when 12th ranked Cimberio Varese (2-5) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Armani Milano (5-2) 105-97 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 23-17. But Cimberio Varese won second period 23-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Armani Milano won last quarter 32-26. They shot the lights out from three sinking 19 long-distance shots on high 54.3 percentage. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Armani Milano made 10 blocks. American swingman MarShon Brooks (196-89, college: Providence) fired 37 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds for the winners. Jamaican power forward Samardo Samuels (206-89, college: Louisville) chipped in 16 points and 4 assists. American point guard Dawan Robinson (188-82, college: Rhode Island) produced 21 points and 6 assists and the other American import forward Ed Daniel (201-90, college: Murray St.) added 17 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Armani Milano and four Cimberio Varese players scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains fourth place with 5-2 record. Cimberio Varese lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with five games lost. Armani Milano will face VL Pesaro (#15) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Cimberio Varese will play against Vanoli Cremona and hope to win that game.
