Regular Season Round 9: Willebroek - Houthalen 52-59

Date: November 23, 2014
Rather expected game in Willebroek where 11th ranked Basket Groot (1-7) was defeated by eighth ranked Houthalen (3-5) 59-52. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Basket Groot won fourth quarter 13-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Houthalen dominated on the defensive end, holding Basket Groot to just 5 points in second quarter. It was a good game for the former international center Jaleesa Maes (188-92) who led her team to a victory with 12 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Wendy Bas (186-86) contributed with 13 points for the winners. DR Congolese forward Celine Kazadi (178-86) answered with 11 points and 5 rebounds and forward Chana Custermans (175-92) added 9 points in the effort for Basket Groot. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Houthalen maintains eighth place with 3-5 record, which they share with Spirou Monceau. Basket Groot at the other side keeps the eleventh position with seven games lost. Houthalen's next round opponent will be Jeugd Gentson (#10) at home. Basket Groot will play against CEP Fleurus and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
