Regular Season Round 8: Ironi Nes-Ziona - Ironi Nahariya 87-83
Date: November 24, 2014
Very expected game in Nes Ziyona where 11th ranked Ironi Nahariya (1-7) was defeated by fourth ranked Ironi Nes-Ziona (6-2) 87-83 on Monday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 25-20. But Ironi Nahariya won second period 15-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ironi Nes-Ziona looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized Welsh Tal Michael Dunne (196-87) who helped to win the game recording 29 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and American forward Craig Smith (201-83, college: Boston Coll.) who added 26 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) during the contest. American guard Nate Miller (193-87, college: Bowling Green, agency: KMG Sports Management) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and his fellow American import John Williamson (200-86, college: Cincinnati, agency: KMG Sports Management) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Five Ironi Nahariya players scored in double figures. Ironi Nahariya's coach Roy Hagai rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Ironi Nes-Ziona moved-up to second place, which they share with Maccabi T-A and Maccabi Rishon. Newly promoted Ironi Nahariya keeps the eleventh position with seven games lost. They share it with Maccabi Ashdod. Ironi Nes-Ziona will meet league's leader Hapoel Jerusalem on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Ironi Nahariya will play against Hapoel Holon (#5) and hope to win that game.
