Regular Season Round 6: H.R. Le-Zion - ASA Jerusalem 66-65

Eighth-ranked ASA Jerusalem (1-5) was very close to win a game against second ranked Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion (5-1) on Monday. Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion managed to secure only one-point victory 66-65. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 66-65. Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. American players dominated the game. It was a good game for forward Karisma Penn (188-91, college: Illinois) who saved her team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 17 rebounds. Guard Alexis Hornbuckle (180-85, college: Tennessee) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Ashley Shields (180-85, college: SW Tenn.St.CC) replied with 17 points and 6 assists and forward Amanda Thompson (183-87, college: Oklahoma) added 13 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for ASA Jerusalem. Four ASA Jerusalem players scored in double figures. Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion maintains second position with 5-1 record behind leader Maccabi Ashdod. Newly promoted ASA Jerusalem dropped to the ninth place with five games lost. Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion are looking forward to face league's leader Maccabi Ashdod on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. ASA Jerusalem will play against Bnot Hertzeliya (#5) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
