Regular Season Round 5: Samen - Gorgan 66-64

The most exciting game of round 5 in the Superleague took place in Mash'had. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 7th ranked Shahrdari Gorgan (1-4) to sixth ranked Samen (2-2) 66-64 on Monday evening. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 19-12 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Samen made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 26 Shahrdari Gorgan turnovers and outrebounded them 44-24 including a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. International power forward Saleh Foroutannik (207-94) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and the former international swingman Ali Jamshidi (196-85) chipped in 7 points and 6 rebounds. The former international guard Babak Nezafat (190-77) responded with 19 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Amir Abbas Mohabbat (200-83) scored 15 points. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Samen moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Naft Abadan. Shahrdari Gorgan lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with four games lost. Samen is looking forward to face PMINA Esfahan (#8) on the road in the next round. Shahrdari Gorgan will play against Sanaye and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
