There was a minor upset in Hod Hasharon where 6th ranked Bnei Hasharon (3-5) was defeated by ninth ranked Galil Gilboa (3-5) 89-77 on Monday. Galil Gilboa looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American Wayne Chism (206-87, college: Tennessee) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import swingman Alex Young (198-89, college: IUPUI) who added 24 points during the contest. American guard Kyle Weaver (198-86, college: Washington St.) responded with 21 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals and forward Oz Blayzer (199-92) scored 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Galil Gilboa moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Bnei Hertzeliyya and Maccabi Haifa. Galil Gilboa will meet at home bottom-ranked Maccabi Ashdod (#12) in the next round where they are favorite. Bnei Hasharon will play against the league's second-placed Maccabi T-A (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
