Regular Season Round 11: Foshan LL - Jilin NE T. 116-109

There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked Foshan (5-6) won against at home higher ranked Jilin Tigers (6-5) 116-109 on Tuesday. Jilin Tigers were tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Foshan made 27-of-32 free shots (84.4 percent) during the game. Strangely Jilin Tigers outrebounded Foshan 47-34 including a 21-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Foshan made 7 blocks. Jilin Tigers were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Nigerian-American point guard Josh-Emmanuel Akognon (180-86, college: CS Fullerton) orchestrated the victory by scoring 39 points (!!!). Lebanese swingman Fadi Khatib (199-79) contributed with 29 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. American guard Dominique Jones (193-88, college: S.Florida) answered with 47 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 7 assists and the other American import power forward Denzel Bowles (208-89, college: JMU) added 19 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Jilin Tigers. Four Foshan and five Jilin Tigers players scored in double figures. Foshan moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Jiangsu D. and TianJin S. Jilin Tigers at the other side dropped to the ninth position with five games lost. Foshan will face higher ranked Shandong Bulls (#8) in Jinan in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
