Regular Season Round 10: Grasshoppers - Amazone 82-50

Bottom-ranked Amazone (0-8) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 82-50 loss to sixth ranked Grasshoppers (2-6) in Katwijk. They also forced 20 Amazone turnovers and outrebounded them 56-38 including a 22-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. Grasshoppers brought some defensive toughness making 10 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Ingrid Van der Plas (178-91) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds. Fleur Kuijt contributed with 18 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four Grasshoppers players scored in double figures. Guard Jay-eliza Burgos (173-94) replied with 10 points and 9 rebounds and forward Rosa Hof (182-93) added 8 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Amazone. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Grasshoppers maintains sixth position with 2-6 record. Newly promoted Amazone still closes the standings with eight games lost. Grasshoppers will play against higher ranked Den Helder (#5) in Den Helder in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Amazone will play on the road against CTO in Amsterdam and hopes to get finally their first victory.
