There was no surprise in Sorocabana where 13th ranked Liga Sorocaba (2-5) was crushed by sixth ranked Minas (4-2) 84-65 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Minas. Liga Sorocaba was better in third quarter 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Minas dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Liga Sorocaba's 20. Minas forced 22 Liga Sorocaba turnovers and outrebounded them 34-23 including 26 on the defensive glass. Liga Sorocaba was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Robby Collum (185-81, college: W.Michigan) fired 24 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Forward Leonardo Demetrio (203-94) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Minas players scored in double figures. Liga Sorocaba's coach Rinaldo Rodrigues rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the third consecutive win for Minas. They moved-up to second place.
