Guandong Tigers (#3) forced the game against Liaoning Hunters (#1) into an overtime, but lost by four points 112-116 on Wednesday night. The game took place in Dongguan. But the guests from Yingkou were better at the end. The guests trailed by 14 points after three quarters before their 36-22 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 4-point victory in overtime. Liaoning Hunters made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Guandong Tigers turnovers and outrebounded them 46-29 including a 19-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. American Lester Hudson (190-84, college: Tenn-Martin, agency: Priority Sports) orchestrated the victory by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). His fellow American import forward Deon Thompson (203-88, college: N.Carolina) contributed with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. International Jianlian Yi (212-87) answered with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 12 rebounds (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field) and international FangYu Zhu (201-83) added 34 points (!!!) in the effort for Guandong Tigers. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Liaoning Hunters (12-0) have an impressive series of twelve victories in a row. They maintain first place with a perfect record of 12 victories in a row. Guandong Tigers at the other side dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. Liaoning Hunters will face Bayi Rockets (#17) in Ningbo in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Guandong Tigers will play at home against TianJin Steel (#13) and hope to win that game.
