There was no surprise when 9th ranked Nova Ves (4-12) were defeated at home by fourth ranked Iskra Svit (10-6) 84-73 on Wednesday. Nova Ves were trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 8-point lead after three quarters before a 31-12 charge of Iskra Svit, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great shooting night for Iskra Svit especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Lakeem Jackson (196-90, college: S.Carolina, agency: Octagon Europe) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import guard Chris Fouch (188, college: Drexel) who added 17 points and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side American forward Stan Brown (204-90, college: Lamar) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds and swingman Peter Pipiska (197-84) scored 18 points and 6 rebounds. Five Iskra Svit and four Nova Ves players scored in double figures. Iskra Svit have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 10-6 record. Loser Nova Ves keep the ninth place with 12 games lost. Iskra Svit will meet at home league's second-placed Rieker KN in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Nova Ves will play against Prievidza (#3) and hope to secure a win.
