No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked DongGuan Leopards (7-4) beat at home 10th ranked TianJin Steel (5-6) 133-116 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 13-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 133-116. DongGuan Leopards made 33-of-38 free shots (86.8 percent) during the game. DongGuan Leopards outrebounded TianJin Steel 41-30 including 29 on the defensive glass. TianJin Steel was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. American point guard Bobby Brown (188-84, college: CS Fullerton) orchestrated the victory by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 7 assists (was perfect 21-for-21 from the free throw line !!!). Nigerian-American power forward Ikechukwu Diogu (204-83, college: Arizona St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 14 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. American guard Quincy Douby (190-84, college: Rutgers) answered with 29 points and 5 assists and the other American import forward Shelden Williams (206-83, college: Duke) added 14 points and 8 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) in the effort for TianJin Steel. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. DongGuan Leopards moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Shandong FB and Shanxi Zh. Loser TianJin Steel dropped to the eleventh position with six games lost. DongGuan Leopards will face bottom-ranked Jiangsu TX (#20) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. TianJin Steel will play against Guandong Tigers (#5) in Dongguan and hope to win that game.
