Regular Season Round 6: Naft Abadan - Mahram 65-86

An interesting game for Mahram (6-0) which played road game in Abadan against 4th ranked Naft Abadan (2-3). Top-ranked Mahram had an easy win 86-65. It looked good early as Naft Abadan took an 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Mahram had a 25-15 second period charge getting the lead and Naft Abadan was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 65-86. Mahram dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Naft Abadan's 36. Mahram forced 25 Naft Abadan turnovers. Naft Abadan was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international Arman Zangeneh (202-93) had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international point guard Farid Aslani (183-88) chipped in 11 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Five Mahram players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was international center Asghar Kardoust (212-86) with 9 points and 10 rebounds and the former international center Jaber Rouzbahani (223-86) scored 11 points and 8 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Mahram have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 6-0 record. Newly promoted Naft Abadan keeps the fourth place with three games lost. They share the position with Samen. Mahram's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tehran Azad.
