Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Pinheiros (3-3) and Macae (2-5), which took place in Macae. Higher ranked Pinheiros lost to fifteenth ranked Macae in a road game 91-95. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Pinheiros. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 29-19. But Pinheiros won second period 25-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Macae won last quarter 22-19. Five Macae players scored in double figures. Naturalized Italian point guard Paulinho Boracini (183-84) responded with 27 points and 5 rebounds and American guard Jason Smith (183-83, college: Al.-Huntsville) scored 13 points. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Macae moved-up to thirteenth place. Pinheiros at the other side dropped to the tenth position with three games lost. Macae will play against higher ranked Sao Jose/Vinac (#3) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Pinheiros will play against Liga Sorocaba (#14) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
