There was a small surprise when fourteenth ranked Shanghai Sharks (4-8) defeated at home 12th ranked Jiangsu Dragons (5-7) 101-90 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Shanghai Sharks. Jiangsu Dragons was better in fourth quarter 24-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Shanghai Sharks shot 60.3 percent from the field and made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. Shanghai Sharks had a 33-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 60.0 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Bernard James (208-85, college: Florida St.) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 7 rebounds and guard Lingyuan Meng (190-89) who added 15 points and 5 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Chris Singleton (206-89, college: Florida St.) with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds and the former international Li Yi (203-85) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Shanghai Sharks maintains fourteenth position with 4-8 record. Loser Jiangsu Dragons keep the twelfth place with seven games lost. Shanghai Sharks will face Fujian (#19) in Jinjiang in the next round where they are favorite.
