Regular Season Round 7: Hottur - IA 101-80
Date: November 28, 2014
No shocking result in a game when second ranked Hottur (6-2) crushed 5th ranked IA (3-4) in Egilsstadir 101-80 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Hottur. IA managed to win second period 31-27. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Tobin Carberry (193-91, college: LIU Post) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. Forward Hreinn Birgisson (190-89) accounted for 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Carberry is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Hottur players scored in double figures. The former international center Fannar Helgason (202-84) came up with 36 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds and American point guard Jamarco Warren (180-88, college: Charleston So.) added 24 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) respectively for IA in the defeat. Hottur maintains second place with 6-2 record having just -1 point less than leader Hamar. IA lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with four games lost. They share it with Breidablik. Hottur will meet at home bottom-ranked Thor AK (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. IA will play against Breidablik and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
