Regular Season Round 10: Stal Ostrow - Astoria Bydg. 78-57

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Stal Ostrow as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Stal Ostrow smashed 7th ranked Astoria Bydg. in Ostrow Wlkp. 78-57. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Astoria Bydg.. It looked good early as Astoria Bydg. took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Stal Ostrow had a 25-10 second period charge getting the lead and Astoria Bydg. was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 57-78. Stal Ostrow shot 24 for 32 from the free-throw line, while Astoria Bydg. only scored two points from the stripe. Astoria Bydg. was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Tomasz Ochonko (183-86) who helped to win the game recording 18 points. Center Wojciech Zurawski (202-76) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Guard Marcin Dymala (188-90) replied with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds and Tomasz Prostak (188-88) added 13 points and 6 assists in the effort for Astoria Bydg.The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Astoria Bydg. at the other side keeps the seventh place with six games lost. They share the position with 4 other teams. Astoria Bydg. will play next round against Pogon Prudnik trying to get back on the winning streak. Stal Ostrow will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked Rosa II Radom on the road.
