Regular Season Round 17: Fukushima - Saitama Bron. 104-78

Bottom-ranked Saitama Broncos (0-13) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 104-78 loss to eighth ranked Fukushima (5-12) in Fukushima. It looked good early as Saitama Broncos took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Fukushima had a 31-11 second period charge getting the lead and Saitama Broncos were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 78-104. Fukushima dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Saitama Broncos' 38. Fukushima forced 20 Saitama Broncos turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. American guard Verdell Jones III (195-89, college: Indiana) nailed 26 points and 7 assists for the winning side and point guard Masaya Karimata (178-88) accounted for 15 points and 11 assists. Five Fukushima players scored in double figures. American forward Gary Johnson (198-91, college: Albany) came up with 20 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import forward Ari Stewart (201-90, college: USC) added 19 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Saitama Broncos in the defeat. Saitama Broncos' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Newly promoted Fukushima maintains eighth place with 5-12 record. Saitama Broncos lost their thirteenth game in a row. They still close the standings with 13 games lost. Fukushima's next round opponent will be again Saitama Broncos (#12) at home.
