Regular Season Round 11: Polonia W-wa - Wisla Krakow 77-63

There was a small surprise in Warszawa where seventh ranked Polonia W-wa (4-5) defeated 5th ranked Wisla Krakow (4-5) 77-63 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Polonia W-wa. Wisla Krakow was better in third quarter 14-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Polonia W-wa dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Wisla Krakow's 36. They outrebounded Wisla Krakow 42-31 including a 35-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was forward Przemyslaw Sloniewski (193-94) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Point guard Adrian Kordalski (185-95) chipped in 12 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Five Polonia W-wa players scored in double figures. Guard Jakub Krawczyk (191-91) produced 17 points and 4 steals and Jakub Zaczek (202-96) added 6 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Wisla Krakow's coach Lukasz Kasperzec tested eleven players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Polonia W-wa. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Wisla Krakow and Kotwica. Wisla Krakow lost their fourth game in a row. Polonia W-wa will face higher ranked AZS UMCS (#4) in Lublin in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Wisla Krakow's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Krakow AZS AGH Alstom.
